Pastoralist Concern Kenya’s programming is not siloed. We recognise that poverty, climate vulnerability, conflict, and marginalisation are deeply interconnected — and we respond with integrated, community-driven solutions that address root causes, not symptoms.
Our seven programme areas are implemented across Marsabit, Turkana, Wajir, Isiolo, Samburu, and Laikipia — Kenya’s most resource-constrained and climate-vulnerable regions — in active partnership with national and county governments, international NGOs, and grassroots community organisations. Funded by the European Commission, DANIDA, UKAid/ACT!, NEMA, and the Government of Kenya.
Seven Interconnected Programme Areas
Each programme addresses a specific dimension of vulnerability facing nomadic pastoralist communities. Together they form a comprehensive, rights-based development framework aligned with Kenya’s ASAL Policy objectives.
1. Resilience & Livelihoods
Nature-Based Solutions, rangeland restoration, and innovative livelihood programmes that build food security and economic independence for nomadic pastoralists.

2. WASH
Sustainable water access, sanitation infrastructure, Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), and renewable-energy water systems for rural pastoral communities.

3. Education
School feeding, infrastructure rehabilitation, gender-sensitive facilities, Teacher-Learner Materials, adult literacy, and vocational training for pastoralist youth.

4. Health & Food Security
Primary health care, nutrition services, emergency response for pregnant and lactating mothers, immunisation, and market linkages for food security in remote areas.

5. Peace Building & Conflict Resolution
Civic education, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), reconciliation initiatives, and applied research addressing the root causes of resource-based conflict in pastoral communities.

6. Girl Child & Women Empowerment
Income generation, entrepreneurship training, and targeted barrier-removal interventions that unlock the economic and social potential of women and girls in pastoral communities.

7. Beneficiary Feedback & Accountability
A functional beneficiary feedback forum and a toll-free hotline (in development) ensuring communities can hold PCK accountable for all programme delivery and outcomes.
